ElderCairn is committed to providing a website that is useable, understandable and accessible.  Our work is grounded in clarity, restraint, and respect.  We apply those same principles to how we design and maintain this site.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA and follow recognized best practices for accessible digital content.

How We Support Accessibility

We design and maintain this site with the following practices:

• clear structure, headings, and navigation

• text alternatives for meaningful images

• avoiding unnecessary motion, clutter, or decorative elements that interfere with screen readers

• ensuring content is readable on mobile devices

• maintaining sufficient color contrast

• testing with automated tools and assistive technologies

Accessibility is part of our ongoing site maintenance and we update this statement when meaningful changes are made.

Recent Accessibility Review

In June 2026, we completed an accessibility audit of www.eldercairn.com.  The review identified several issues related to:

• page landmarks

• decorative icons

• search-box behavior

• descriptive page titles

• hidden elements exposed to assistive technology

We have addressed or mitigated these issues where possible within the capabilities of the Google Sites platform.  

Known Limitations

Some accessibility limitations may remain due to platform constraints.  These include:

• automatically generated elements that cannot be modified

• decorative icons that cannot be fully hidden from assistive technology

• structural markup that is controlled by Google Sites
